Y is for: Your Charisma is Powerful!

Your Charisma

My daughter Sam has charisma. When I asked her when she first knew she had charisma, she said, “It’s like knowing the color of your skin. You might not know what to call it, but you know you’ve got it.” She has always known how to get what she wants. At the age of 8, she struck up a conversation with a comedian who was selling CDs of his Christian comedy act. She asked him about one of the CDs that had a scratch on the cover. She convinced him (with very little effort) to give her the CD. Then, she went to a store and looked at some superballs. She grabbed 2 of them and asked the attendant if she could have both for the price of 1. Her request was granted. That’s how it’s always been for her.

I believe that her charisma comes from her confidence. She has never been afraid of “no.” To her, “no” is the same as, “check back with me later.” Though, she disagrees. She says, “My confidence comes from my charisma, from the knowledge that I can talk to somebody and sway them to my line of reasoning.”

Celebrity Charisma

Instagram recently revealed that its top accounts, including Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, each have over 40 million followers. What draws people to follow these celebrities is their authentic and very personal updates posted in real-time. You, too, are unique. Your best creative asset could be the way you see things, the way you think and the way you do things.  That’s your charisma.

The truth is that charisma is a huge part of what draws people to these celebrities. We aren’t all charismatic. It’s why you see some people who seem to succeed at whatever they put their hand to and others just…don’t.

The A to Z Blogging Challenge

A to Z Blogging ChallengeI’m doing double duty this month during the A to Z Blogging Challenge. Here at Heather Erickson Author/Writer/Speaker, I will share ideas for “Thinking Creatively.” I’ll also be doing the challenge at Facing Cancer with Grace, where I will focus on “Avoiding Burnout.” I hope you’ll visit me at both sites. While you’re here, sign up for my email list. Today’s post is Y is for Your Charisma/

Think of an issue you’re facing.

If you knew you couldn’t fail, what would YOU do? If I knew I couldn’t fail, I would write and publish fiction. It’s my passion and my biggest fear. The great novelists make it look easy. That’s only because they are so good.

Do you have natural charisma? What would you do if you couldn’t fail?

What Are YOUR Thoughts?

I don’t know your daughter, but I like her.

Quit my job and publish full-time, of course! You did a lot of work on these challenges this month *clapping* great job!

I think there’s a bit more to it than that. But good for your daughter. Some people never achieve that level of comfort in asking for what they want.

“Asking for what you want” was not in the vocabulary of my parents’ generation and that lesson trickled down. I can accomplish my goals as long as it doesn’t require asking for (too much) help.

With such charisma, your daughter is headed for greatness.
